Priest – The Reverend Hilary Anne Murray

Hilary was originally born in Barbados, West Indies. Having her father being an Anglican priest, she and her family moved to many countries in the Caribbean, as well as, Canada and the United States. She first moved to Canada, Montreal, when she was 6 ½ years old. In 1981, her family moved to Ottawa from Montreal, where she finished high school before heading off to post- secondary education.

Hilary obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from King’s College at The University of Western Ontario in 1989. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Work from The Florida State University in 1993. She obtained her Theology training from St. Paul University, finishing her Bachelor of Theology in 2010 and Master of Pastoral Theology in 2012. Hilary was ordained deacon on March 28, 2012 and priest on November 29, 2012.

Before being ordained Hilary also served as a Clinical Social Worker for over 20 years. She has extensive experience providing psychotherapeutic services in the areas of grief/loss, chronic illness and end stage medical conditions, depression/anxiety, trauma and marriage and family counseling. Her career has taken her from Florida and back to Canada. Her last position was as a full-time social worker with Canadian Forces Base Petawawa’s, Mental Health Services.

Hilary served as the Assistant curate at Christ Church Bells Corners, from 2012 to her appointment as Incumbent of the Parish of Fitzroy Harbour in April 2014.

Hilary also has background in the area of dance and spirituality. She studied dance from a young age and in university. She enjoys choreographing liturgical dances, as well as, the ballet, ballroom and modern dance. When she is not working Hilary’s other favorite past times are hiking, spending time with her animals, listening and playing music, dreaming up new dances and visiting with friends.




Morley has been Organist/Choir Director at churches of various denominations in the Ottawa area for many years, serving the Parish of Fitzroy Harbour for more than two decades. In addition to the regular church services, he plays at funerals and weddings throughout the region.




After graduating from the University of Western Ontario she began her working career as a computer Programmer in Toronto. After 3 years in the work force she took a leave to raise her 5 children. She returned to programming when the last child started school. In October 2007 Cathy became the Parish Administrator for the Parish of Fitzroy Harbour. She volunteers at the Arnprior and District Museum concentrating on the textile collection and loves Quilting. “There is always something new to try.”
